Stop your BMW F87 M2 heat soaking with this Performance Intercooler — a full-size bar-and-plate front mount that replaces the undersized factory core.
The N55 M2 is quick on its first run and noticeably softer on its third. The reason is the standard intercooler: it is sized for the car BMW sold rather than the one people tune, and once the core saturates the intake charge climbs, the ECU pulls timing to protect the engine and the car quietly goes slower. Most owners blame the weather.
This core is substantially thicker and denser than standard, with cast alloy end tanks and a smooth internal transition into the outlets. More core means more thermal mass and more surface area, so it takes longer to saturate and recovers faster once it does.
Key Features:
Full-Size Bar-and-Plate Core
A far thicker core than the factory unit, with the thermal mass to survive repeated hard runs.
Cast Alloy End Tanks
Smooth internal transitions rather than the pressed steps the standard tanks use, so flow is not thrown away at the ends.
Attacks Heat Soak, Not Peak Power
The gain is consistency. A standard car is quickest once; this one holds its timing run after run.
Direct Bolt-On Fitment
Uses the factory mounting points, crash bar and charge pipe connections. No cutting and no fabrication.
Keeps the Factory Look
Sits behind the standard bumper with no visible change from outside the car.
Essential Above Stage 1
Any tune raises boost and therefore charge temperature. Cooling is what lets a tune deliver what it claims in Australian conditions.
Performance Benefits:
Substantially lower charge air temperatures under sustained load
Far less timing pulled on a second or third hard run
Consistent power on a hot day instead of a car that fades
Greater thermal mass, so the core takes longer to saturate
More surface area, so it recovers faster once it does
Headroom for a Stage 2 tune to be worth what it claims

3.0L Turbocharged N55 Engine
N55 Only - Not the M2 Competition:
This is a front-mount air-to-air intercooler for the N55 M2. The M2 Competition runs the S55, which does not use a front mount at all — it uses a top-mount water charge cooler, and takes our F80/F82/F87 top mount intercooler upgrade instead.
Please Note:
Professional installation is recommended. The front bumper must be removed to fit it.
