The EA888 Gen 1 2.0 TSI is the engine that started Volkswagen's modern turbo four-cylinder line, and it remains a cost-effective platform to build. At Proven Performance Parts, our Gen 1 collection covers the supporting hardware a tuned Gen 1 car needs, including downpipes, high-flow air intakes and charge cooling upgrades, all chosen for fitment first. Freeing the exhaust and intake sides reduces backpressure and intake temperatures so the turbo spools sooner and holds boost more consistently once the car is mapped.
