Unlock the signature S55 soundtrack with this Equal Length Mid Pipe (Z Pipe) for the BMW F87 M2 Competition and M2 CS — engineered to transform exhaust tone, improve exhaust pulse balance, and deliver a smoother, more exotic sound profile.
Designed specifically for enthusiasts who want to eliminate the uneven factory exhaust character, this equal length Z pipe configuration restructures exhaust flow to balance both turbo banks before reaching the rear section. The result is a cleaner, higher-quality exhaust note with reduced rasp, improved tone consistency, and a far more aggressive motorsport-inspired sound.
Manufactured from premium mandrel-bent stainless steel and precision TIG welded throughout, this system is built to withstand extreme exhaust temperatures and high-performance driving while maintaining OEM-style fitment and reliability.
Whether paired with factory downpipes or upgraded high-flow systems, this Equal Length Mid Z Pipe dramatically changes the personality of the S55 engine — producing one of the most desirable exhaust upgrades available for the F87 M2 platform.
Key Features
Equal Length Z Pipe Design
Engineered to equalise exhaust pulse timing between both turbo banks for smoother and more balanced exhaust acoustics.
Signature S55 Sound Transformation
Produces a deeper, cleaner, and more exotic exhaust note while reducing harsh factory rasp.
Improved Exhaust Flow
Optimised routing allows smoother exhaust evacuation and improved system efficiency.
Premium Stainless Steel Construction
Manufactured from high-grade stainless steel for long-term durability and heat resistance.
Mandrel-Bent Tubing
Maintains unrestricted exhaust flow and consistent pipe diameter throughout the system.
Precision TIG Welded
Strong, clean welds designed to withstand high-performance applications.
Direct Bolt-On Fitment
Designed specifically for the BMW S55 platform using factory mounting locations.
Performance Benefits
• More balanced and refined exhaust tone
• Reduced rasp and improved sound quality
• Increased exhaust flow efficiency
• Sharper throttle response
• Enhanced turbo acoustics
• Excellent support modification for tuned and high-power setups
Performance gains may vary depending on supporting modifications and vehicle configuration.
Sound Characteristics
Compared to the factory midpipe configuration, the Equal Length Z Pipe typically delivers:
• Deeper and smoother exhaust tone
• Reduced metallic rasp
• More exotic high-RPM sound

Vehicle Fitment
BMW F87 M2 Competition (2019–2021)
BMW F87 M2 CS (2020–2021)
3.0L Twin-Turbocharged S55 Engine
This mid pipe does NOT fit the N55-powered F87 M2 (2016–2018). The original M2 uses a single-turbo N55 engine with a different exhaust layout. Only the S55-powered M2 Competition and M2 CS are covered.
Which Resonator Option Do I Need?
The resonator is an in-line silencer built into the system. It does not meaningfully restrict flow, but it takes the hard edge off the sound and is the difference between a car that is simply loud and one you can still hold a conversation in at 100km/h.
Non Resonated - Full Equal Length Twist Tube — the system exactly as designed, with the full equal length twist tube section running into the Z pipe. This is the loudest and most aggressive setup, and it is the version that delivers the equal length design in full.
Resonated - Shortened Twist Tube — adds the in-line resonators for a cleaner tone with less drone at cruising speed. Please read this before choosing. The F87 M2 has a noticeably shorter wheelbase than the M3 and M4, and there is not enough room underneath it for both the resonators and the full twist tube section. To make the resonated version fit, part of the equal length twist tubing has been shortened. The Z pipe and the equal length routing are retained, but the twisted section is visibly shorter than on the non resonated version.
This applies to the resonated version only. The non resonated version is supplied with the full equal length twist tube and Z pipe, with nothing shortened.
The first two images show the difference directly — the non resonated system with its complete twist tube section, and the resonated system with the shortened section and the resonators fitted.
If your car sees regular motorway kilometres the resonated version is the one most owners are happier with long term. If you want the full equal length design and do not mind the volume, take the non resonated. Contact us if you would like to talk it through before ordering.
Please Note
Exhaust sound will vary depending on whether factory, catted or catless downpipes and rear exhaust systems are installed. Professional installation is recommended.
