BMW F80/F82, M3/M4 Equal Length Mid Z Pipe

Unlock the signature S55 soundtrack with this Equal Length Mid Pipe (Z Pipe) for the BMW F80 M3 and F82 M4 — engineered to balance exhaust pulses between both turbo banks and deliver a smoother, more exotic sound profile.

The factory mid-section leaves the two banks unequal, which is where the S55’s harsh rasp comes from. This equal length Z pipe routes both sides the same distance before they meet, so the pulses arrive together. The result is a cleaner, deeper note with far less of the metallic edge, and a car that sounds expensive rather than just loud.

Manufactured from mandrel-bent stainless steel and TIG welded throughout, it bolts to the factory locations and works with either the standard downpipes or an upgraded set.

Which Resonator Option Do I Need?

The resonator is an in-line silencer built into the pipe. It does not meaningfully restrict flow, but it takes the hard edge off the sound and is the difference between a car that is simply loud and one you can still hold a conversation in at 100km/h.

Non Resonated — this is the system shown in IMAGE 1. Straight pipes through the mid-section, the loudest and most aggressive setup, with the sharpest S55 character. Best suited to a car that gets driven hard rather than commuted in.

Resonated — this is the system shown in IMAGE 2. You can see the two in-line resonator sections in the middle of the pipes. It gives a cleaner tone with far less drone at cruising speed, still considerably louder than factory but much easier to live with on a daily drive or a long trip.

Please look at both images before you order so you know exactly which system you are buying. If your car sees regular motorway kilometres the resonated version is the one most owners are happier with long term.
