The charge pipe upgrade, done properly. This Titanium Charge Pipe Upgrade for the Mercedes-AMG A45 S, CLA45 S and GLA45 replaces the plastic factory pipe with mandrel-bent aerospace-grade titanium, finished in a hand heat-anodised blue and gold, and supplied complete with the diverter valve housing, silicone coupler and clamps.

The factory charge pipe on these cars is plastic. It is adequate at standard boost and it is the first thing to let go once the car is tuned, usually splitting at the moulded joint under full load and leaving the engine in limp mode. Titanium removes that failure point permanently.

Against a stainless pipe, titanium brings two things: it is substantially lighter, and it sheds heat far better, so the charge air arriving at the intercooler is cooler. On a car where charge temperature is the limiting factor in sustained hard driving, that is a real advantage rather than a cosmetic one - and the anodised finish happens to be the best-looking thing under the bonnet.

The blue and gold colour is produced by heat rather than paint or coating, so it will not chip, peel or fade with under-bonnet temperature. No two pipes are identical and the banding will vary slightly from the photographs - that variation is characteristic of anodised titanium rather than a fault.

This pipe is for the 45-series cars. The A35, CLA35, GLA35 and GLB35 run the M260 and use a different charge pipe.
